Privacy Policy – Daily Bible Verse

Thank you for choosing Daily Bible Verse, developed by Tiago Do Couto. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and which third-party services we employ.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Automatically Collected Device Information

Locale & Language Code
We detect your device language (e.g. en, pt) solely to select the appropriate Bible translation.
Advertising Identifier
On Android and iOS, Google AdMob may access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID) for ad targeting and frequency capping.

1.2 Local Storage

Last Open Date
We store a single value (@bible:last_open_date) in your device’s local storage (via AsyncStorage) to track whether you’ve opened the app on a given day and to decide whether to schedule the 10 AM notification.
Custom Font Cache
We temporarily cache the downloaded Merriweather font file via Expo’s font loader; no personal data is stored.

1.3 Notifications

We schedule local notifications at 10 AM if you haven’t opened the app that day. Notifications do not collect or transmit any data back to us.

2. How We Use Your Information

Translation Selection
We only use your device’s language code to default to the Almeida (Portuguese) or WEB (English) translation.
Local Notifications
Your last-open date is used to prevent duplicate 10 AM alerts on days you already opened the app.
Ads Personalization
Google AdMob may use your advertising identifier to serve relevant ads; we do not share any of your own data with advertisers.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Google AdMob

Our app displays banner ads using react-native-google-mobile-ads. AdMob may collect and use your device advertising identifier for ad personalization and analytics. For details, see AdMob’s Privacy & Terms.

3.2 Expo Notifications

We use Expo’s Notifications API to schedule local notifications. No external servers are involved—notifications are delivered by your OS.

3.3 Analytics & Crash Reporting

We do not include any analytics or crash-reporting SDKs beyond React Native’s development tools. No usage analytics leave your device.

4. Children’s Privacy

Our app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn we have inadvertently done so, we will promptly delete that information.

5. Data Security

All data (last-open date, font cache) is stored locally on your device. We employ standard best practices for mobile development, but note that no method of storage is 100% secure.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date above. Continued use of the app after changes implies your consent.
